MONKEY BUSINESS SPORTS COMPLIANT FOR ALL CPSIA REQUIREMENTS AND STANDARDS FOR LEAD AND PHTHALATE LIMITS

Portland, OR – On January 30th the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission voted unanimously (2-0) to issue a one year stay of enforcement for certain testing and certification requirements for manufacturers and importers of products intended for children 12 years old and younger. The vote by the Commission provided limited relief from the testing and certification requirements which go into effect on February 10, 2009 for new total lead content limits (600 ppm), phthalates limits for certain products (1000 ppm), and mandatory toy standards, among other things. However Manufactures and importers will still need to meet the lead and phthalates limits.

All items sold by Monkey Business Sports the past 3 years have been tested by and passed what was, at the time, the strictest testing standard in the world in the United Kingdom (EN 71 testing). These testing standards require items to have lead content lower than 600 ppm and phthalate content below 1000 ppm. It was the decision of Monkey Business Sports at that time to meet these more strict testing requirements because it has always been a top priority to make innovative, high-performance products that are 100% safe for young children. Additionally Monkey Business Sports implemented a company-wide initiative in 2008 that all products manufactured be phthalate-free, which was carried out successfully.

All items manufactured, imported and sold by Monkey Business Sports are in compliance with the CPSIA standards which go into effect on February 10, 2009.

Please visit our website at Monkey Busines Sports to download a copy of a Certificate of Compliance for all items.
